Once you try my Homemade Pita Bread recipe, you’ll swear by it, and your house will smell like a baker’s shop. Nothing beats the smell of warm bread. For me, this brings back fond childhood memories with my mom in the kitchen. This pita bread is so delicious and fluffy. I could eat it day and night!
Ingredients
You will need
- 1 ultimate dough recipe (see my reel for the ingredients and how-to)
- 1- Once your ultimate dough has doubled in size, gather your dough from all sides of the bowl to the center
Instructions
- 2- turn it on a floured surface. Start pulling and tucking the four corners to the center. Roll the dough to where the seems are facing down.
- 3- cut your dough in half and then cut each half in 4 pieces which will yield to 8 pieces.
- 4- add more flour to all the pieces and start rolling each piece into a ball on a stone surface or between your hands.
- 5- place the balls of dough on a kitchen towel making sure there’s enough space between them and then cover with another towel. Let rest for 30 minutes.
- 6- start rolling out each piece with a rolling pin making sure to flour on top and bottom. ( I like to flatten each piece using my hands before rolling with a pin ).
- 7- roll out each pita to a 9 inch and place back again on the kitchen towel and cover. Let rest for another 30-40 minutes, so it would develop and rise.
- 8- heat your oven to 500 degrees. Always keep your baking sheet inside the oven to heat before hand. I was able to fit two pitas on one baking sheet. Bake on the bottom shelf till it rises and then move to the upper shelf set on broil and brown the top.
- 9- now you have the perfect pita. The smell, the taste, the texture is so yum. You will have to try it for yourself to know what I mean! And it you do please like and share.
Notes
- You can freeze your pita in an airtight bag after it cools and enjoy when ever you feel like it. 🌻.
