
My recipe box will always have room for food that feels thoughtful and inviting, and Blackberry Lemonade earns its place. A thoughtfully made drink is such a simple way to make people feel cared for. Make enough to share, because a second glass is very easy to imagine.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh blackberries (or frozen)
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cup water
- Zest of one lemon
- Yield to 3 cups blackberry syrup
- 2 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice (or bottled)
- 3 cups water
- Lots of ice
Instructions
- Simple syrup if needed to add sweetness.
- For serving slices of lemon and blackberries.
- Cook the blackberries, sugar, water and the zest of one lemon on the stove about 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves and the berries are soft don’t overcook you don’t want it to become jammy. Strain the syrup through a fine strainer, pressing on the blackberries to release all the juices, set aside until completely cool before proceeding with the lemonade.
- I always have simple syrup on hand in the fridge if needed you can add more syrup to sweeten your lemonade.
