Blackberry Lemonade

Blackberry Lemonade

My recipe box will always have room for food that feels thoughtful and inviting, and Blackberry Lemonade earns its place. A thoughtfully made drink is such a simple way to make people feel cared for. Make enough to share, because a second glass is very easy to imagine.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries (or frozen)
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • Zest of one lemon
  • Yield to 3 cups blackberry syrup
  • 2 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice (or bottled)
  • 3 cups water
  • Lots of ice

Instructions

  1. Simple syrup if needed to add sweetness.
  2. For serving slices of lemon and blackberries.
  3. Cook the blackberries, sugar, water and the zest of one lemon on the stove about 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves and the berries are soft don’t overcook you don’t want it to become jammy. Strain the syrup through a fine strainer, pressing on the blackberries to release all the juices, set aside until completely cool before proceeding with the lemonade.
  4. I always have simple syrup on hand in the fridge if needed you can add more syrup to sweeten your lemonade.
