Ingredients
- 1 pack Hawaiian rolls
- 2 lb. flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 medium red onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1½ tbsp. beef tallow (or substitute with a neutral oil)
- 1 tbsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- ½ tsp. black pepper
- 1 heaping tsp. dried Mexican oregano
- ½ tsp. salt
- Sliced Havarti cheese, or your favorite cheese
Garlic Butter Sauce
- 6 oz. salted butter
- 8–10 garlic cloves, minced
- Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Cook the beef: Heat the beef tallow in a large skillet over high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook for 1 minute, stirring. Add all the spices except the salt. Cover, reduce the heat to low, and cook until the beef is tender.
- Make the garlic butter: Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant. Skim off any white foam, stir in the parsley, and cook for another 30 seconds. Set aside.
- Add the vegetables: Season the beef with salt and let the excess juices evaporate. Push the beef to one side of the skillet, add the peppers and onion, and cook until almost tender. Mix everything together.
- Assemble the sliders: Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally. Brush the bottom half with half of the garlic butter. Add the beef mixture and top with sliced cheese. Place the top half of the rolls over the filling and brush with the remaining garlic butter.
- Bake: Cover and bake at 350°F on the middle rack for 10 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 30 seconds. Serve warm and enjoy!
