
Every cook needs a few recipes that make the table feel cared for, and Apple Crumble is a delicious place to begin. It feels festive enough for company and just as welcome on an ordinary afternoon. There is something comforting about letting the oven take over while the table comes together.
Ingredients
- π 8 large cooking apples
- π 1/4 cup water
- π 2 tbs sugar
- π 1 cup plain flour
- π 1/2 cup soft brown sugar
- π 1/2 – 3/4 tsp cinnamon
- π 4 ounces butter
- π Vanilla ice cream

- Preheat the oven to 350 F.
- Peel and core the apples and cut into wedges. Place in a sauce pan add 1/4 cup of water and sugar (I forgot to add the sugar and honestly it was fine) bring to a boil cover and turn down the heat to low, let the apples cook until almost tender about 15 minutes. Drain and spoon the apples into a 1.5 liter ovenproof dish.
- In a bowl mix the flour, brown sugar, 1/2 – 3/4 teaspoons of cinnamon. Add 4 ounces of butter and rub between you fingers until it resembles bread crumbs. Sprinkle evenly on top off the apples to cover completely.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until crisp and golden brown. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and Enjoy! π.
