Tilapia Milanese

Tilapia Milanese

There is something especially satisfying about making Tilapia Milanese and bringing it to the table. I like to let a main dish take center stage and keep everything around it relaxed. This is one to make, share, and tuck safely into the recipe box for another day.

Ingredients

  • 4 6-ounce tilapia fillet
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper
  • 3 large eggs
  • 6 slices white bread, torn into pieces
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley
  • Grated zest of 1 lemon + wedges for serving
  • Olive oil and unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Tilapia in my opinion is a very boring fish, it’s dry and very mild in flavor. Some might argue that it’s flavorless, But if you dress it up the right you can take it to a whole new level and you will thank me for it later(I hope 😉). This recipe is full of flavor and not dry at all, I hope you get to try and share it ☺️.
  2. This recipe will serve 4.
  3. Preheat oven to 425 F.
  4. Pulse the bread, 1/4 cup of parsley, lemon zest, black pepper and 1 tsp salt.
  5. In a bowl add the milk+2 cups ice and soak the fish for 15 minutes. In a shallow dish mix the flour+1tsp salt+ 1/2tsp black pepper.
  6. Lightly beat the eggs in a 2nd dish, in a 3rd dish add the bread crumbs.
  7. One at a time, remove the fillet from the milk and dredge in the flour, shaking off the excess. Dip in the eggs, the coat with the bread crumbs, making sure to pack it on all sides, transfer on a plate.
  8. In a large skillet heat 2tbs olive oil+2tbs butter. Fry 2 fillet until golden, 3 minutes on each side. Repeat with the rest of the fillet adding butter and olive oil each time.
  9. Place the fish on the prepared sheets and bake until cooked through about 6 minutes.
  10. Serve with arugula salad, with a simple lemon olive oil dressing and lemon wedges. Enjoy 🌻.
