
Move over panna cotta, Almaseieh is here and she’s making a splash, an orange splash 🧡🍊, such a festive, easy dessert. Almaseieh literally means diamond-like, and you can make this dessert for any occasion. It’s a perfect dessert for Valentine’s Day, especially if you can’t find good berries right now, and since citrus season is in full bloom 🍊. Ramadan is coming up too, and this is the perfect dessert for iftar. You can make it a day before, and it will keep in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Ingredients
Thickened milk cream
- 3 cups whole milk
- 60 grams cornstarch
- 1/3 cup sugar, 80 grams
- 1/2 of 170 ml. can kashta (found in middle eastern market, size is standard)
- 2 tbs orange blossom water
Orange cream
- 2 cups fresh orange juice
- 30 grams cornstarch
- 3 tbs sugar
Instructions
- In a pot whisk 3 cups of milk, sugar and cornstarch until no clumps appear. Cook the mixture on medium heat whisking all the time until thickened, turn off the heat add 2 tablespoons of orange blossom water and kashta give it a good whisk, bring back to the heat stir until bubbles form on the side. Remove from heat and distribute evenly between 4-6 glass serving dishes depending on the size of your dishes, making sure to leave enough space for the orange cream.
- Whisk everything together making sure there’s no clumps and then cook on medium heat until thick and bubbly making sure to stir all the time, remove from the heat immediately distribute evenly on top of the thickened cream dishes. Let cool on the fridge for at least 4 hours, when serving top with roughly chopped pistachio and rose petals 🧡🍊🧡🍊🧡.
