That irresistible combination of silky chocolate, creamy pistachio, and crispy, buttery kataifi! If you’ve been wanting to try the viral Dubai chocolate bar, this is your sign to make it at home.
The secret is the filling: golden, crunchy kataifi mixed with tahini and my homemade pistachio cream. The result is a rich, nutty filling with the perfect balance of sweetness and crunch, all wrapped in a beautiful chocolate shell.
And the best part? We’re using my homemade pistachio cream, made with just three simple ingredients, so you can control the sweetness and skip unnecessary additives!
Ingredients
- 118 g kataifi (shredded phyllo pastry)
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp tahini
- 200 g homemade pistachio cream, plus 2 tbsp extra if needed
- 283 g semi-sweet chocolate (10 oz), I used @aldi
- 50 g dark chocolate (1¾ oz), I used @lindt
Instructions
- Cut the kataifi into small pieces to make it easier to toast and distribute evenly throughout the filling.
- Melt the butter in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the kataifi and toast, stirring frequently, until golden brown and crispy.
- Add the tahini and stir until evenly combined. Reduce the heat to low, add the homemade pistachio cream, and mix until everything comes together into a rich, creamy filling. Remove from the heat and set aside.
- Chop the chocolates and place them in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30–40-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler.
- Spoon or brush a layer of melted chocolate into your chocolate bar molds, coating the bottom and sides evenly. Refrigerate for about an hour, or until the chocolate shell is firm.
- Divide the pistachio-kataifi filling between the molds and gently press it into an even layer, leaving a little space around the edges.
- Pour the remaining melted chocolate over the filling, spreading it evenly to seal the bars. Gently tap the molds on the counter to release any air bubbles.
- Refrigerate for 2–3 hours, or until completely set. Carefully remove the bars from the molds and break one open to reveal that gorgeous, crunchy pistachio center!
