This recipe comes from our Middle Eastern cuisine, absolutely delicious and quick to prepare, perfect for lunch or dinner. It’s truly a recipe that doesn’t need a recipe ☺️
Ingredients
- 600g lean thinly sliced beef (eye of round)
- Salt and black pepper
- Ghee and extra virgin olive oil
- 2 heads garlic, rough chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- Thinly sliced onion
- Parsley +sumac
- Pita bread
Instructions
- Fillet mignon would be the best cut but we’re on a budget so any lean cut will do as long it’s not muscular or has silver skin.
- Place the slices of beef in a plastic bag and flatten each piece with a pounder/mallet like you see in the video.
- Add salt and black pepper to your liking.
- Prepare the onion, parsley, sumac mix and rub gently to tenderize the onion.
- In a frying pan add ghee and olive oil to cover the bottom of the pan.
- Fry the beef slices on both sides on medium heat until browned, remove from the pan and set aside.
- Add 2 heads of garlic and sauté quickly so it’s not sharp in flavor then add 1/4 cup of lemon juice to deglaze the pan add 1/4 cup water then the beef with the meat juice.
- Cover and cook on low for 5-10 minutes until tender.
- Enjoy with pita bread and the side of onions mix.
